Sing-a-ling sessions are fun, educational and interactive music workshops for all young children in schools, nurseries, festivals and events. The emphasis is firmly placed on having fun!
Founded in 2012 by early years specialist and musician, Willow Harwood, Sing-a-ling brings young children together to make music in an inspiring and encouraging environment.
The sessions are based on the belief that all children are innate musicians. If early childhood includes good quality musical experiences children will reap the rewards throughout their childhood and beyond.
Each workshop is bursting with creative ideas to encourage children to be musical and partake in group activities, igniting their creative spark and building confidence. Willow uses rhythm, rhyme, repetition and interactive play to nurture learning.
Workshops typically include a mixture of children’s classics and original Sing-a-ling songs accompanied by guitar and djembe drum. Sensory props, puppets and parachute play weave their way through the workshop, providing varied and engaging musical experiences.
Sing-a-ling runs a weekly drop-in class in Frome on Wednesday’s at 9:30am in Christ Church Hall, Park Road, Frome. No need to book – just turn up!
With a BA (Hons) in Early Years Education and over 20 years of experience, Willow is passionate about working with children in a creative capacity.
In her wider work Willow is an Associate Music Leader for Evolve Music and an Associate Musician for the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, working on creative health programmes on the children’s ward at Dorchester Hospital and the Balsam Centre in Wincanton.
Willow founded the Kindness Connection CIC in 2024 and delivers inter-generational music workshops in several care homes in Somerset.

Music ignites all areas of child development.
Research tells us that exposure to music and musical activities has multiple benefits in the early years. It promotes language acquisition, and develops socio-emotional and co-operation skills, communication and listening skills. Music stimulates development of the intellect and fine and gross motor skills.
Perhaps most importantly it is FUN!
It’s no wonder music transcends time and all cultures and traditions.
